With this painting, I want to celebrate the amazing NW Tasmanian landscape in springtime.
The tulips, the freshness, the hope.
TASMANIAN TULIPS has been partially painted with eyes closed. It is one of the techniques I use in my meditative painting practice, in order to let go of negative thoughts or my inner voice comments.
I recently had an injury to my eye, and it affected my eyesight for some time, forcing me to keep one eye closed. My art practice is about distancing myself from what is seen and allowing intuition speak louder than so-called reality. When I first applied some key strokes eyes closed, it liberated me even more and I decided to keep this as part of my practice.
It is a way to let intuition flow freely, without judgement.
Eyes see, and yet they can lack understanding. Eyes see and they want to analyse or copy. But art is not about copying. Art is an interpretation. Art is enabling feeling. Art is the world between what is seen and what is not. And this is why I sometimes apply paint ... eyes closed.
I hope this painting can help you to feel free
- to loosen tight muscles, breathe and reach your maximum potential.
For each day is a new start. Each day has hope.
- Hela
