August 28, 2024A Painting Invites an Air of Peace and Calm
First Flowers of Spring
"I adore your painting, and it has pride place in my home, above my most cherished "granny chair" where I sit to meditate, read, reflect and muse each day.
Your piece always evokes the sense of possibility and potential, the eternal life-force ever present within the landscape of life.
Here, in my sacred space, it represents for me, the strength within stillness and peacefulness."

Spring most definitely is my favourite time of the year. The hope and positivity is so contagious. How could you not love spring? All our dreams have been waiting, and gathering strength. Whether it be deep mountains of snow in Finland, the crisp frost of Tasmania or the miserable rains in NSW... winter is time for rest and gathering strength, knowingly or unknowingly.
First Flowers of Spring was born reflecting Rumi's words: "We bury our seeds and wait". In this painting seemingly fragile looking flowers push their way through the still snow covered ground, full of determination and life. They do not scream and rush around, but rather ever so calmly make their presence known. For it is time.
It is acrylic on recycled canvas on board and reverse box framed. I love painting on recycled canvas - give new life to something abandoned or a new and elevated purpose. A second chance.
The painting was part of my FLOWERS AND WORDS exhibition in Kiama, NSW, and purchased there by some of the most genuine people I have ever come across. I am so happy to know that all these years later, it is still very much loved and keeps adding to the positive and peaceful atmosphere in the home. I am truly blessed.
May no frost of life bring us down.
Sleep for a while.
Rest.
And then,
like the first flowers of spring,
Break through the snow.
Bring back LIFE.
