Sometime Later
The air was not for lungs.
My village being saved, I felt guilt.
Will we ever learn?
Will gumtrees flower again?
Will the butterfly have a new home?
Acrylic, stainless steel and bushfire ash on linen
Approx 122cm x 152cm

$12,800
After the 2019 bushfires that caused untold suffering, I walked in ankle deep piles of ash on our usually so white beach. I contemplated on what man was doing to our beloved earth and collected some of the black tears into my buckets. The initial sketch and all black deep lines are created with the collected burnt bushfire ash. The ash symbolises vulnerability and the stainless steel and copper the strength and resilience.
